Need input on painting stand

I am painting the inside of my stand tomorrow. I have been reading about a number of options and I am leaning toward the White Epoxy Appliance paint. There seems to be differences of opinions about primer. Some say you don't need it. Others say they use it. Some say Killz others say nothing with extra chemicals...

Any input and experience would be helpful.

I love painting & have done quite a bit over the years I always use kilz primer no matter what the job it helps give the paint something to stick to helps from using so much of your paint and always gives your paint a better finish unfinished wood can soak up quite a bit of paint & kilz will help reduce that & stop bleed thru

I used Kilz on my current stand and it turned out pretty good. I used a thicker paint though, which I wished I didn't since it didn't look as smooth as it felt with 600 grit sandpaper.

And why not something with extra chemicals? Last time I checked my fish don't swim in my stand

+1, killz is a must, and it dries in half an hour in most cases. It will reduce how many coats of finishing paint that you need, and save you money, which is a big plus

We used Benjamin Moore Fresh Start 100% Acrylic Superior Primer and Waterborne Epoxy on our sump stand.

I don't know what the concern is? a few people voiced long term concern over leaching but it seemed odd.

well I just finished the stain and 2 clear coats on my 5ft x 30 in wd stand. I did not use anything on the inside of the cabinet because i wanted the maple wood to breath, but I will not be having a sump inside the stand. the sump will be in my basement . Now if i were to have the sump inside the stand, then I would have coated it for protection from salt residue and stains. There are several things out there to consider, but I would always do what a professional painter recommended , because I am no professional on paint myself. Some things are better to take the advice of the more experienced. Good Luck

Thanks. I just got back from Dunn Edwards and they confirmed that the appliance epoxy would be an excellent choice...he even thought it might be overkill but very effective. I am not much of a photographer but I will try to snap a pic when I get it done.
