Need more visible fish

My pJ cardinal never hide. The current firefish do not either, but I had some who did, they are skittish. I am surprised that your clown hide, do they have an anemone? I do not and they go all over the tank.

Hmm, interesting. Does that rule out gobys too because of the firefish?
No; while many fish tend to not like close relatives, firefish and the other dartfish usually don't pay any mind. I have had conspecifics fight in terms of the firefish (purples and helfrichis mainly) but dartfish as a family are usually super passive.

Also, interestingly enough, most watchman gobies will let dartfish hide in their burrow with them, like they have some sort of unspoken agreement, even though watchmans defend their burrow to the death from other fish.

Lawnmower Blenny - out all the time, comes over and stares at you, eats algae

Wrasses are pretty hyperactive. At least mine is.

Cardinals are nocturnal, hence the big eyes and boring personality during the day.

what about a bluespotted jawfish?

they're big time hiders and are generally not suited to a reef tank

A Caribbean black clingfish will be on your front panel, all the time, as soon as it learns that you're the source of food. Just don't keep that are smaller than its mouth, and you'll be fine.
