thanks for response, unfortunately , dont really have somewhere "safe" unless its outside. our basement is finished. also good to note that the crack is obviously way above the water line. I was thinking of possibly using some 2 part epoxy or silicone to fill in that gap.I would put the tank somewhere safe incase of leaks and fill it to the very top with some strong flow towards that back panel and let it sit like that for couple of weeks to see how the glass holds up.
I think the seal might be ok but idk about the integrity of the glass its self.
sweet, kinda what the guy who sold it to me was saying and he had over 2,000g worth of reef tanks in his basement haha. do you think applying any epoxy or silicone will be worth it?It's fine. It's a classic scallop chip with no radiating cracks. It's no different structurally than beveling.
Only if you're afraid you'll cut yourself. Won't do anything structural.sweet, kinda what the guy who sold it to me was saying and he had over 2,000g worth of reef tanks in his basement haha. do you think applying any epoxy or silicone will be worth it?
The silicone seam is fine. I had a similar chip in a 90 gallon that was in use for over a decade with no problem.Being at the top it looks okay to me but keep an eye on that silicone seam, might separate after a while then you might have an issue. Epoxy or resin might not be a bad idea!
can you possible show a link to this stuff?Repair it with the windshield light cured cyanoacrolate! Works great!
There is no "repair" possible (or needed)Repair it with the windshield light cured cyanoacrolate! Works great!
Me but I’m paranoid so don’t take my word for it. I don’t buy used tanks and would never use a cracked tank.any people out here thinking its not safe?
yea i think im going to put it in my finished basement as it would only ruin carpet down there pretty much. originally planned this for 1st floor living room.Me but I’m paranoid so don’t take my word for it. I don’t buy used tanks and would never use a cracked tank.
I’m sure people saying it’s safe from experience are telling the truth, but it’s almost impossible to see clearly from a picture. So there might be small details that we are not seeing.
Water damage is such a pain, I try to avoid risks if I can.
