I have a 68g cad versa I am setting up from my 29g. I have read that if you cure your rock first you will avoid many of the algae problem you get as I know all to well from my first tank!
I decided to place all my new "dry" rock into a large Tupperware and it is currently curing in salt water with a heater and a PH.(and occasional feeding) I read it can be any were from 3 week to 6 weeks for curing..I currently have an ammonia spike so things are happening....

So here is my issue: (and please comment on above if you have another suggestion)

I have 3 stacks plus other various pieces epoxied together to form part of my scape. Once I remove the cured rock (3 weeks?) and put into new tank I will then epoxy and use Macro cement to make my permanent scape. I read the Macro stuff is great and no more rock slides!
I will add salt water and test all parameters and since the cycle took place in the Tupperware container I should be good to go! RIGHT?
Will the new epoxy and Macro cement cause an issue? Will it cycle again? Maybe I should wait anther week once totally set up?
Side note:
I will also be adding my live rock from established tank as well as sponge and a few other goodies from my original set up into the sump..

I appreciate any info or suggestions

I believe you will still get at least some sort of cycle happening. Pretty much anytime you make a major change it prompts some sort of cycle. I would just monitor it and go slow.

u will likey have a mini cycle. it will be quick and you may not even be able to test for it. this doesn't necessarily mean you are the clear of unwanted algae some rock can leach phosphates for a long time....

Thanks guys !
I kind of thought that might happen I guess if it goes quick that's OK my new tank is going in a different spot not too far away from the old tank so I could actually take my time and move things over slowly once the new rock is in and my many cycle has passed.
I know I still could get some algae breakouts but I was thinking this could be a way to maybe eliminate some or at least the amount will be smaller if I get any.
