Anyone familiar with my reef or my refugium knows that I am into variety. I had a chance to get a few more macros fairly cheap. Small pieces but they'll grow, So I did.
After purchasing them I decided to redesign the fuge. It was kind of packed so I decided to thin things out and change a few things in order to better accommodate the variety.
I removed all but a few scraps of the Chaeto And put a small ball of it in my Sump instead.I did not like how it tangled into all the other algaes. I removed most of the grape caulerpa, leaving a few strands on the back glass. I remove most of the sawblade caulerpa, the main rock in center has it all over it. Left that. I broke up my large red fern and spread it around. And added the new macros. (razor, scroll, codium, and a couple other red firn like ones and a purple one that looks like my titan)
Asked my wife how it looks. She said empty. Lol I said it will grow. How does It look? She said empty. Geeeez.
So.... how does it look? First pic is before. Second 3 are after.

I think she's right! :D

I looked at the first picture and said to myself, that looks pretty good!.

Then I paged down and realized that the first picture was the "before" picture.

It looks like something you'd see on the evening news about some tornado coming through some small town.

But you're right.....it will grow back. :D

LOL, All of the new ones are tiny. My Hope Is that as they grow in the variety will make it look much better. Although without the chaeto it will look less full. But man that stuff gets Tangled in everything and makes a big mess. The picture on top is right after I cleaned it all up obviously. LOL

Does it still look empty?? The Chaeto is making a mean come back. My reds are getting covered

Cleaned it out again. Sent out a sample of each macro to a fellow reefer and threw away a packed gallon bucket of multiple types! Here's the before and after :-) I can't believe how quick the chaeto grew out. It was in everything. Again. Lol

Looks great Wiz! I can't wait for my sump to look like that. Is your profile picture of an amphipod? Reason I'm asking is I have a large amphipod I'm my DT that looks just like that. Thanks and NH woot-woot!

Thanks, and yes it sure is. I could not believe how clear a shot I got with my phone so I had to use it. Lol love all the bugs and worms

Wiz, post #1 fourth picture, second red algae from left towards the back, fern like, did not see it in any other pictures, so you know what it is called, and where you got it.

Thanks

No worries my friend, I've had that algae in all of my tanks if I'm thinking of the right one. Always just called it Redfern. Not sure the scientific name. It is pretty thick stems with root systems that grow pretty well. Anchors to whatever you attach it to. Almost like a small tree. Very nice red though. If you would like a piece of it just PM me your address and I will send it to you. :-D
