Need opinions on return pump

I need a little help deciding what return pump to use for a cad lighting 50 gal 24x24x20 cube. It comes with a boyu 41 watt 630 gph pump. The instructions are in Chinese and it does not specify gph at given heights. I bought a mag 9.5 but it is causing heat issues in my tank. I also have a mag 7. What do you guys think? For a 50 gal how many gph do I need for a return pump? What pump would you guys use?

+1000000......you can not go wrong with an Eheim pump. I absolutely love mine on my 60gl cube. Ultra quiet and no heat issues.

Eheim pumps are great pumps...

I am currently using a Marineland 4500 for my 75G tank and it is working great. No heat issues there as well.

On a 50 a mag 7 should be plenty

IMHO....Mag pumps tend to be less reliable then Eheim and definitely contribute to excessive heat in the tank.

I use a tunze 1073.05 It's adjustable and I have zero heat problems.

I have a Reeflo Tarpon and love it...very quiet, great flow with good pressure rating which I like since I an running educators on it.

This is good advice! Are mag pumps really bad heat producers?

Mags do produce heat when run submerged. I would go with ehiem if you are running submerged.
