so my rimless 150g 48L x 30w coming tomorrow (buildt by C2C) sump delivered over weekend by LifeReef lots of equipment has been delivered including but not limited to: three a360x by kessil ; and apex neptune controller ; tunze ato ; and much else ! so very excited to put it all together !

so the question is : the tank is setup with 3 overflow holes for beananimal set up ; and 2 return holes (all bottom drilled) ; i still havent picked out pumps was going to go with DC (vectra) also looked at apex
problem is reviews arent great so paying top dollar for problems doesn't seem appetizing
i was planning to have 2 return pumps (although open to the idea of one pump and splitting for each return) ; ill also need pumps for media reactor and skimmer ; so in total 3 - 4 pumps ; the sump is good size but not huge ; also need suggestions for (pump sizes for each item listed) .... so thats it .... please weigh in (chime in) thanks in advance

PS id like to create my "build link" i notice some members have a signature (click here to see my reef build) how do i set that up ? id like to start taking some pics (also can videos be added?)

I’ll bump for advice on the pump.

Start a build thread in the members tank forum. Copy the link to that page, then go to your forum I’d and click on your name. Select “signature” then copy the saved link to your members tank build in the “edit signature” block and save. It will then show up in your signature.

I would recommend a reef octopus VarioS pump or 2. I held out on DC pumps for a long time because I wanted something reliable that didn’t cost as much as an Abyzz. The reviews on the VarioS are good and they are Apex Ready if you are in to that.

I use a single VarioS 8 on my 120 that powers a manifold with my return biopellets reactor and a spray bar in my fuge. I like to minimize pumps so I would recommend some kind of manifold. Many would have one pump teed off for the return and a second for equipment, but I prefer just the one single pump.

I'd be looking at the Danner Mag line pumps - they offer a variety that might fit your plan

Danner pumps are great! Very reliable and have a 5 year warranty. However they are very loud and horribly energy inefficient in comparison to DC pumps.

As I said in my previous post it took a while for me to go DC because they just don’t have a great record for a piece of life support equipment but they have real advantages that make a difference in my home where I want the tank as quiet as possible and my wife is bugging me about how much energy the tank uses.

If you want a middle ground I would look into some quieter more efficient AC pumps like Sicce syncras or Tunze Silence. However my VarioS8 replaced a big tunze silence and it is Way Way Way quieter. If you really want quiet and a ton of flow you’re gonna have to go DC.
