I’ve got an issue with water quality in my QT and need some help analyzing it.

current parameters are: Salinity 1.024, Ammonia zero, Nitrite zero, Nitrate 23 ppm, PH 8.0, Temp 79, and Copper Power at 2.45 ppm. Using Hanna test for the Nitrates and Copper.

Fish were put in on 18 April. Started elevating copper on 25 April to reach 2.5 ppm on 1 May. Stated first round of Prazipro on 2 May. 20% water changes every 4-5 days Prior to adding Prazipro. Wanted to wait 7 days after Prazipro to do the next water change.

Everything was looking good. all testing was good, fish looked happy, were eating like pigs and still show no signs of any trouble. I feed them twice a day. what I feed them, they clean up within 2 minutes, so I don’t think I am over feeding. I also put a Nori clip in twice a day. (2 small tangs).

On 7 May (Prazipro had been in 6 days), the tank stated getting cloudy. I went ahead and did a 20% water change late that day. Did a second water change of 15% yesterday. Tank is still quite cloudy and i plan on a third water change of 15% this afternoon. Maintaining the copper at 2.4 - 2.5 level.

I was wanting to start the second round of Prazipro tomorrow , but the water is still cloudy. Am I doing something wrong, or is it the Prazipro causing the cloudiness. Also, should I wait a while before I add the second round of Prazipro and keep doing water changes till the water clears up a bit.

Sounds like a bacterial bloom, the prazi wont kill bacteria and its not uncommon for a bacterial bloom in a QT not running any antibacterial meds. Just be careful, make sure you have aeration via a stone or another method, most danger comes from the bacteria using all the O2 in the tank.

I’ve got a large foam filter with air stone in it. Lots of bubbles. Also HOB filter and a power head pointed at the surface. I was wanting to do three cycles with the Prazipro About 10 days apart. Think it would be safe to go ahead with the second dose?
