I'm installing my Apex amps reading 6.8 but when ever I turn on my T5 the GFI trips..
Here a pic of what it looks like.. I got it from Homedepot but I can't find the link on their website.

Should I run the EB8 with the GFI?

Plugged in the EB8:
2x Mag 9.5
2x MH
1x Solenoid for CO2. Currently off
1x moon light.

Well it works fine if I plug it into another strip that has a gfi built in...

sometimes those gfci recepticals are real finicky the slightest surge will trip them. Your better off to replace the receptical in the wall. Give me a shout maybe i can come by and change it for you. 5 min fix:)

I much rather have it that way, but space to fit back there is small.

dont need much room just flashlight hand tools and 5 min of no power....

The sucky part is that it's right smack in the middle of the 4' stand.

it may be tripping because of the amount of power going threw at once when start up occurs.

What should I do? Run it without the gfi, get another plugin?

It's simply the nature of the T5 ballast. I'm not sure why but they trip GFCI's. No amount of cleaning or replacing the switch will help. Find a different outlet that is not GFCI protected to plug your fixture into. I don't see a reason why the T5's need to be protected unless you're worried about them dropping into the tank.

Ok +2 on bypassing the gfi but what protection will there be for the Apex's EB8

Take your GFI adapter & plug it into another outlet & plug in something like a vacuum or other high draw appliance and see if it trips. If your power strip GFI dosen't trip pluged into the same outlet then it could be not working also. Just some things I would check. Wall adapter's(low end, don't have surge protection) from my past experiance are not reliable unless you buy the middle of the road in cost. For lights I don't use GFI and always a grounded circuit.

I used the gfi plugin before on my chiller and it never tripped.

And I also have a titanium grounding probe in the water.
