Long story short, my pet sitter feeds my tank about 4x the amount of pellets that is needed. I was gone overnight and came home tonight to PILES of pellets accumulated in hard to reach corners of the tank.

I have no other options for short term caretakers of them and yes, he has been told multiple times how much to feed them but he doesn't listen.

Please give me your recommendations for auto feeders!

I have the same problem except my sitter is my dad and yes I’ve told him many times. So I got the Neptune systems auto feeders and love them cause can control from anywhere

Pre-sorted in containers is Fail safe. Then hide the rest.

I just ordered the Plank by Avast. Heard it’s awesome.

While it is pricey, I recommend the Plank from Avast Marine. You can really dial in the amount and feed powders as well for any corals. You do need a separate timer for it. I use a WiFi plug I got off Amazon.

Someone suggested a pill container in a facebook group and I think that is definitely the most cost effective method

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions!

I originally posted in a local facebook aquarium group and there were zero feeder recommendations and even a suggestion to just not feed them at all. Lol.

As a side note, I noticed as well that my water is now fairly cloudy compared to usual. Is this a result of the severe overfeeding or should I look into this further?
Currently planning a 50% water change tomorrow as well as some smaller changes through the next week or two depending on ammonia levels. For tonight I removed as much as I could but most of it is settled in some tough spots and will just have to degrade unfortunately. There’s over 100 nassarius snails in my tank but they never even got close to eating it all but judging from my pellet jar, I believe he may have fed them up to a 6th of the jar within 2 feedings.

I use plastic disposable cups that come in packs of like 100 for $9 on Amazon. They are shot glass size.

I’ll put dry food in them and for frozen food you can thaw it, put some RO water in and then refreeze in the cup. Then have the person feeding just pull it out the day before and it thaws.

Use a turkey baster to blast the degrading pellets in to the water column before you do the water change.

I just run auto feeders on all my tanks now with a mix of seaweed pellets and regular pellets. I use the Eheim feeders at home but I use a few other brands on customers tanks and haven't ran into issues except where there is high humidity in the feeder location or someone got it wet and didn’t tell me.

When I would have someone watch the tanks previously, I used 7 day pill containers with dry food.
