What would you guys recommend for a 36 gal bowfront. Was looking at getting two of the icecap 1k gyres and slapping them on either side to create a chaotic flow in the center. But for around the same price I could also get a mp10 or mp40 but it would be omni directional. Which would you go with and why? Also any other recommendations you can think of would be greatly appreciated.

And for the same price as that you could get 2 Tunze's! :D

What are you keeping?

Going for a mixed reef. Fish stocking not too sure however it will be bare bottom

Check them out on BRS, if you go to Pumps and Plumbing/Powerheads/Tunze and click on one of them they have a nice little comparison chart with flow rates.

I stand behind Vortech MP any haha they are quit and work really well, I used to have 2 maxspect gyres and I do not like them..1 they need to be cleaned often, 2 they need to be removed from tank for maintenance and cables re managed. With the Vortechs are super easy to clean if you have a spare wetside ( most preferred ) it takes 10 secs to change it and clean the dirty one when ever.

Yeah that would be a big benefit of the MPs but I just liked the idea of having one on each side and the budget wont allow for two of them atm... although I do have a korellia nano 425 I can stick opposite of it for the flow collision

So this is the tank currently korellia are in there for basic flow(normally my mixing pumps) light is a left over just there till tank is mature enough for corals. Should I place the mp in the same spot I have the korellia when the time comes? Water level will also be alot higher(ran out of ro water so its currently refilling).

It’s hard to beat the mp’s. I never bought one because of the price. I got one then loved it so much I am now running three. Worth it in my book. Look for clean used in your area to soften the cost.

Yah I would set them up opposing each other and set them to anti-sync
