I think I need a skimmer. I just have no experience with them. It needs to be silent, and fit into my 20 gallon sump/refuge...any suggestions. I’m afraid to drop that kind of money on something that might make noise which the wife will not tolerate. So I need real world experience. My tank is a 65 with a 20 gal sump. Has a few small fish and mostly softies.

You need to figure out how much foot print space you have & that will decide which one you go with. There are a number of good companies. Nyos,Reef Octopus,Bubble Magus,Deltec etc.

Well the center section I could use is 10 x11. The water there is 8 inches deep. The head clearance is 24 inches bottom to top. Again looking for quiet! Any one with real world experience?

I would look into skimmer with pump inside the chamber like Simplicity 120 and the Nyos 120 or if you can find one a Bubble Magnus C0-1 S cone skimmer.

I have the Nyos 160 but quite a few people have had issues with the pump not pulling air into the chamber after cleaning including me. You have to blow into the air line to get it started.

Bubble Magnus 5 on sale for 154. That seem like a good price?

Well bought it. We will see how it does. Thanks for the direction! Happy Holidays...I got my present now....

^^^^ Good choice you might need to reduce the air, also they are sensitive to depth. Great skimmer and legions of fans.

Update on the bubble Magnus, it works great! Took just 2 days to settle in and it’s cranking out dark smelly stuff like crazy! It’s quiet and fits nice! Great advice!
