Ok… I need some advice.

So it turns out I’m leaving 2 days earlier (just found this out like 5 minutes ago) than I originally thought, for my search & rescue/emergency services training.

The coral from POTO comes in the day I leave. ;Panda

Option 1:

Get my mom to take care of the coral the day they come in. ( I will have my phone with me on the ridiculously long van ride up to PA, so we could like FaceTime or text with updates and stuff) The van would have lots of other cadets, that I would talk to and get to meet before the thing actually starts.

OR

Option 2:

Stay and take care of the coral, but then ride up to PA in a van with 2 old guys and no other cadets. :/

Thoughts?

Mu parents want me to go with the other cadets, so that’s even more pressure…

Oooff option 1 for sure. What type of corals are comming in?
1x Pink and Gold Paly(Special) for $15.00 each
1x Golden Goose Zoa (Special) for $19.00 each
1x Neon Stem Aussie Duncan (special) for $14.00 each
1x Electric Clove Polyps for $10.00 each
1x Blue dot Mushroom for $19.00 each
1x Neon Kenya Tree for $19.00 each

Yea I would just FaceTime her when they come in ,seem to be very easy corals.
That was what I was thinking. If I was getting like a hammer or torch, that would be a different story… but most of these are softies.

Hey, what's wrong with us old guys? ;)

Go with option 1 and good luck with the training.

Lol, didn’t mean to insult anyone, but I imagine they would be very boring. ;Lurking
Car/bus rides are boring anyway. I voted option 2. Personally, I hated riding with the other kids on school trips, I don’t think you’ll really miss anything by not riding up with other cadets. If the 2 old guys are people you know/trust, I would ride with them and ensure your corals get in your tank safely. But that’s just what I’d do.

If you decide to have your mom do it, I wouldn’t have her do some complex acclimation, just have her float the corals to temp acclimate them (and even this isn’t really necessary), and then put them in the tank (don’t put any of the water from the bags in the tank). There is no need to drip acclimate corals, I don’t know why people recommend this, it’s wholly unnecessary.

But would delaying the shipping be better?

Im sure the cadets will be chill. It’s an 8 hour drive the first day, which is pretty dang long to sit by yourself.

(also it is 1 old guy and 1 old lady in the van)

Also my parents want me to go on Wednesday.

Yeah, if you can delay it, go for it (plus, I don’t know about where you are, but where I’m at it’s been unseasonably warm (100°+), which is not weather that’s conducive to shipping corals.
