I decided to take this guy home from a LFS for a discounted price to try bring it back to life. It’s receding a little on one side. They said it was a lobophyllia but I think it’s a scolymia. Can someone give me some advice on how to help this guy out or did I just waste my money.

Lobophyllia grows on stems from the substrate like for instance Euphyllia. Scolymia has only a stone plate making it possible for the coral to live on the sand or gravel like for instance Fungia. Lobophyllia grows on stones and is to heavy to stay on the sand in the nature.

Ok this one has a cone shaped bottom that I glued to a rock and then put in the sand
