Hey guys,

So I'm doing a 90 day fallow which ends on March 11th of next year.

I've been trying to read up on what I should be doing and I ran into some things that concerned me.

I've read that some ich strains as well as velvet and brook can stick around even after the initial 90 day fallow and I wanted to know what I can do to increase the chances of a successful fallow?

I'm going to be doing a water change today and was wondering if I should remove and clean everything like the pumps and the chambers as well as remove my rockscape to vacuum the sand underneath? The only thing I'm worried about is the fact my rockscape isn't one piece and it has frags glued all over them, as well as a rock flower anemone hidden somewhere in the crevices of the rock. If I can avoid disturbing the rockscape I'd prefer going that way

What steps should I take with my DT to make sure the fallow is successful?

I guess I just did too much research and I'm having a bit of an information overload and feeling confused.

Thanks!

I don’t think it will be necessary to do a full cleaning of everything, it may cause more problems than it helps. When I did my fallow I left everything as it was and had no problems…except for the fact that I still added inverts and corals during it…

The inverts have been in the tank since pretty much the beginning. I added about 8-10 frags about 2 weeks ago when I received my shipment from TSA.

I won't be introducing anything new to the tank (TSA's Winter Sale is really testing my willpower lol) while on the fallow period to avoid contamination and restarting the fallow over

I turned up the heat... to 81... I stirred my sand and turkey blasted my rocks and used a sock to catch it. Tank looked amazing during fallow :)

Will that high of a temp be safe for the corals?

Ya, it's not that high of a temp. :) Some corals come from natural reefs in the mid 80's. I brought it up over a few days I think though probably didn't have to. People used to run reef tanks mid 80's to increase growth. People used to dose bleach in their tanks too (I am not that crazy but don't mind using peroxide for certain things).

No matter what cleaning your do is not going to decrease the odds. Don’t over think it. Lol. Patience was torture for me! But had 100 percent success at 76 days. The only benefit I had is my tank exploded with copepods and amphypods. Good luck stay patient!! I didn’t add ANYTHING (corals) because I just didn’t want to wonder if I reintroduced anything during the fallow

I'm honestly not feeling impatient at all with the fallow. I really like my coral so I feel this will be a good time to focus on each individual one and really get an understanding of them and what they like. Hopefully by the time my fallow is over my new fish have a more grown out tank ready for them to explore.
