OK here's a pic of my 75 gallon tank,
To me it looks like the rocks are just piled up and theres to many,
I have 150 lbs in there ,Is that to much and could i put some of it in the sump ,would it serve the same purpose as in the display tank..

What do yall think, should i re-landscape the rocks?

i think it looks nice but if you want to put some of it in your sump it would be fine

I think it looks good the way it is but a rescape is a good way to make it feel fresh to you again and to do somethings different that may have been bothering you. I say go for it, make some extra water cause there's gonna be some nasty stuff under those rocks you don't want to stir up too much.

OK Well im going to do it..Do i need to leave a space from the rocks to the glass on the back or can the rocks hit the glass ,right now there all in the center but i just dont think i got enough room for the fish to swim in open water.I know a 75 is kinda small but i hate to upgrade since i got a light thats 48 inches long and a stand already..would going higher with a new tank help

Also you should consider that fact that you do not need so much rock in your tank at all. It's an old myth that says you have to have 2lbs or even 1lb of rock per gallon. :)

So even 1lb per gallon would be enough,Ive always hear 1.5 to 2 doesnt it help with the cleansing of the water or will the skimmer do just fine

Nice carpet! I've been debating on getting one for my clowns. I hear they move around and can block the overflow so that has held me back :(

With the rock in the sump and having a protein skimmer, you will be fine with reducing the rock in the DT. There is no set in stone amount of rock needed in the DT. I have found that too much rock can cause issues with detritus building up, algae growth and flow issues. I had this issue in my tank and recently decreased the amount of rock over a few weeks and my tank is doing great.

Give them the proper conditions (( the OP's is an S. haddoni )), they will stay put. Granted, changing something, even moving a powerhead, can cause them to move.
I moved about 1.5 years ago, and since that time my current S. haddoni hasn't moved at all. I have been keeping them for the last 15 years or so, and each time one of them moved it was because of an outside force.

+1 very important you go nice and slow moving the bottom rock from the substrate.

MIne moves probably once every 6 month, only after i do a water change and if the water isnt near perfect ,but he only only moves front to back since i have rocks on both side which isnt a nother to me or the fish,I have 2 clowns that host it and its amazing watching them in it,I have 2 other clowns that host other coral but if i start messing with the carpet they will come join the 2 hosting the carpet and protect it Craziest thing ever this casrtpet if it was able to lay flat would be 18"round but i think its just getting to big for my tank,Ive had it a year now and its only ate 3 fish so far,Thats the bad thing about carpets, but all my fish know now not to get to close to it...It ate my Hippo tang about 6 months ago and he was 4 inches...Overflw? well mine dont have the chance to go over to it,plus if i want to move him ,I set my little water pump right in front of him and within 2 hours he lets go and i can move him right back to where i want him to be...

budman,I think your tank looks really nice, but you can remove some of the rock and open up the scape for better water flow, having that much rock that close together can create dead spots in your flow and allow detritus to build up over time....

I've seen several really nice looking tanks with the rock placed against the rear glass but I prefer it out enough to allow good water flow back there too...

if you do decide to rescape it,be very careful moving th base rocks try to not stir up the sand no more than necessary, there may be some really nasty stuff down there, like already posted, mix up some extra water, you'll probable wanna do a good water change afterwards....

all rocks removed needs to be placed back in water really soon to avoid die off....good luck with the rescape

Well i think this weekend im going to remove some and just put it in the sump..I just dont think theres enough room at the top for my bigger fish to swim,I know its only a 75 G and I have 3 fish in there that will get bigger but im trying to hold off till next year when i get a bigger tank..

Thanks for the kind words..,I wanna build like 2 island but not sure the 48inch long tank is big enough for this, also what happens to like xiena that is atached to 2 ricks can i just break it apart, will it be ok theres like 2 corners of the tank where brown stuff build up on the sand and i have to suck it out once a week but other then that I have zero on all my test i do..I think i just wanna have something different to look at casue im thinking it just looks like i piled up the rock..I know now when i upgrade im going to set up my rocks better but till them im going to rearage.Hopefully not having to bother the botom rocks..

You could leave your whole base intact and build 2 mounds up from that creating caves within each and make one mound taller than the other. The lower section in between could be for something that requires lower light and grows large like a big monti caps, frogspawn or carpet. You could also build a bridge midway from one mound to the other if you have the right rock for it. This would create a passthrough which fish love, allow flow and an additional interesting place to place corals...maybe zoas or palys? You have a lot of great stuff to work with :)

I'm not sure about the xenias... I never had to separate mine.

Thanks for that ,im going to try that I might have to break a rock up to make like a bridge, also my center brace on my tank blocks some light right in the center which i wish i could get rid of but i guess its there for support

You're welcome :)

Yes it is there for support. Saltwater is heavier than fresh and the glass has more pressure on it. I had an older 150g without one and it was a seam splitting nightmare. During the heat of the day the glass would expand and bow and retract when cooling down at night. You could actually hear it! It finally gave out.

(Shaded area)
I have the same situation on my 125g with the center brace. Believe it or not some lower light corals do very well there. they still get light but filtered. I have a candy cane under my shadow area and its doing very well as do sun coral (this would be a GREAT, vibrant choice but have to be fed daily, near 0 PO4 & NO3), green star polyps and Galaxia.
