I'm kinda new to saltwater tanks. I've had my 30 gallon running for a couple of months with no problems. I've been using a wet/dry filter. The other day I pulled the wet/dry and replaced it with a refugium. Now my question is should add the wet/dry back and use both or should I just use the refugium?

When you say wet/dry filter, do you mean bio balls? If so, as long as you have an adequate amount of live rock in the display, the tank should be fine without the bio balls, if not better off without them.

Yes I do mean bioballs.

I should of added that the refugium is in like 5 gallons of a 10 gallon tank. I have a dsb and a couple live rocks. I also have about 1 and 1/2 inches of sand in the main tank with about 10 to 15 lbs live rock.

You should be fine, keep an eye out for any spike in nitrate or ammonia, although so long as you aren't overstocked with fish, the likelihood of having any type of nutrient spike is slim.

Just got 2 damselfish in it right now. Planning on adding more fish to it

Lol.. just wanted to make sure the tank would be able to handle more fish with just a refugium
