Hey guys new member here, just getting back into the hobby after some years off. Started a Fluval Sea Evo 13.5 gallon with my daughter. I have found a local deal for the following;
-Vortech MP10WQD manufactured 7/15
-Milwaukee MA887 digital refractometer (comes with calibration fluid)
-Aquatic life RODI buddie
ALL FOR 200$

My question is, do y'all think its worth the 200$, independently I can get the vortech for 150$ but the guy was willing to sell all of it for said price, I'm in desperate need of a circulation pump, are the vortices worth it? I have never owned any of their products. I was alternativley I was looking at a Jebao rw-4 with the AquaLink S1. Can y'all offer any advice to my predicament? Thanks in advance

Verify Vortech is in good working condition before you buy. plus see if you can cal. the refractometer right there. It is likely you will need to rebuild the RODI-(how much to do this ???) Good luck

anything i should specifically be looking for on the mp-10? RODI was purchased brand new in october of 2016, this will be my first encounter with my own RODI so i don't know a basic time frame on the filter replacements

Set the NP10 up in a bucket of water and see if it is noisy(if so-no good) Check to see if all functions work. On the RODI, Membrane R/R every 2 years and all else every 6-8 months. A duel TDS addition is nice to have so you can check to see in/out and know when to change filters.

Thanks! Ive never heard of a TDS, ill look into it. Would you go mp10 or the Jebao with the aqualink s1?

Welcome to R2R! As mentioned, make sure everything looks in good working order. The MP-10 is a great pump, make sure the wires aren't pulled away from pump dry side and controller. I'd plug in to make sure the dry and set side function properly. The WQD should be very quiet. The digital refractor should read 0 with rodi water or better 1.025 with calibration fluid. I'd pull the filters from the buddie to see how they look, I don't know what the cost is to replace those.
If everything looks ok, $200 for all of it is a steal but be weary unless it's someone you totally trust;)

Thanks for the reply! I don't know the fella, he was also selling a smart micro ato (125$)with and 2.5 gallon ato container (55$) for 40$ someone else got to hime before i could get to that too. What am I looking for in the filters?
