Long story short my fuge failed pumping m mud into my tank while I was away for a couple days. I live close to the ocean so iv been doing massive water changes. My 75 gallon is sps dominate and their all skeletons. I can see color deep in them still, I have a giant red monti cap in the same condition but it looks like it has a white fungus on it in spots. I brushed some off think maybe I should frag it out and there's red under it. Before this happened the tank was really healthy with great growth. It's really heart breaking. Lost all fish except my clowns and god knows what else. My snails hermets and clowns seem unaffected by it. The water even after water changes remains cloudy. I plan to just do w changes and hope for the best. I haven't found a happy ending in any of the tank crash articles iv read. Any advice would be great. My tri color looks the best which isn't saying much but it still has some polyps. :( Darn mud

sorry to hear that...its really unfortunate. when you say they are all skeletons, but there is still color deep in them do you mean they RTNed or do you mean they severly pulled in polyps and flesh is bleached. Either way I think they are mostly gonners. If the cap still has color maybe it will come back but I would frag off any white parts. Do you run a filter sock or carbon? That may help decloud your water along with the water changes. Be careful not to shock your system with too large of water changes with water that doesn't match params spot on. Really sad to hear what happened. Let us know if you have any success with turning things around.

Well it's been a few days and I did end up fragging the cap. It smelled real bad and I figured if anything else would make it I should probably get it out of there. The rest are skeletons. I thought maybe there was still life in the center of the skeletons but now it doesn't seem so. I have a tableing acro that's still kind of green at its base but haven't seen one polyp. My tri color has some brown in it still but no purple. It has some polyps I think but if they are than they are shriveled up, about a quarter the size they were and I haven't seen one of the white/blue polyps that were on the tips. It's sad because there's a acro crab in it and I'm sure if the coral dies completely he will go down with his ship. :(

Oh yea since removing the rotting parts of the cap my water cleared up nicely. Yes I'm running carbon. I'm really hoping the tri recovers. It was my favorite coral.
