This may not be the place for this but I don't know what to think or do at this point...I posted an ad about my 150 gal rimless tank for sale..I have had it two years . It was a custom built tank that I got from someone else..I have put alot of money into it as we all know how expensive the saltwater addiction is. I know this is a nice tank but not as good as it could be in the right hands..one reason for selling it I have no room for it ..takes up alot of space . I put it on craigslist also ( mistake I know) ..This guy contacts me about it telling me he loved the tank and wanted to trade for a used lawnmower ..After he said he had terminal cancer and back problems I tried to explain to him that this tank might be too much for him to handle that he needed to think about what he would be getting ..I told him I didnt want to trade for the lawnmower at this point ..This guy has emailed me several times a day about my tank insulting me that the tank is not rimless that someone just took the black part of a regular tank..Also he told me my measurments were not right I needed to remeasure it because my t5 light fixture is the same length as the tank (its suspended above the tank and just looks that way) My magnet is big on the tank therefore it has to be a smaller tank than I said :squigglemouth:..He has insulted me and is now reposting after my ad calling me crazy...on crack and everything else he can say..I have tried to explain to him that it is rimless that the front of the tank shows the width of the glass its not black...Just dont know how to get him to leave me alone. Also told me that tank is not 150 gal and sent me the calcualtion for measurements I know that it is not actually 150 gal but Im not posting a 139 gal tank....Anybody ....I just need somebody that knows about tanks and is of sound mind to give me some positive or sensible feedback first on my tank and second onhow to handle my siituation...Thanks

I pretty much post everything, aquarium wise, on craigslist because of the vast majority of people that it reaches. I've bought some tanks off of some nice people as well. BUT, there's always a crazy or two out there that want to insult you if you don't take their "deal." Posting something for $200, and they say I'll give you $100, you decline it and they berate you telling how you could never get that for it.

Just ignore him. Hopefully he will go away. And honestly, no tank is ever exactly the gallonage the measurements come out to. If you want to be exact, you have to take into account the size of the glass, and measure from the inside of the glass.

Right now what he is trying to do is "talk you into" the deal. Ignore him. I know it's hard to be mean, but tell him like it is. It's sad to say, but I've gotten a ton of emails saying how all they want is a tank to help them out because they are terminally ill. Maybe one of them was actually telling the truth, but it's sad that all the other could ruin it for that one person.

You should be able to just set up your email client to automatically throw his messages in the trash. That may make it easier for you to ignore him.

Personally, I'd probably just tell him he is right, that the tank will hold 139 gallons of water, and I've discovered the tank is a very rare and desirable custom size and have decided to increase the price. (perhaps $10/gallon, which is much less than what your local pet store charges for many of their tanks).

He's terminally ill, right? You shouldn't have to ignore him for long, especially if he thinks he's not going to make it long enough to need to mow grass again.

Mark, you crack me up! That was dark, yes, but still a bit humorous.

I liked it.Just ignore the crazy guy.We have had similar people call us when we've posted stuff. They all want something for nothing and alot of them get folks to feel bad and fall for the scam. Some turn around and repost it in a mnth or so for what you were asking for it telling folks they are sick and need the $ for being sick.I like Graigs list but there are always someone tring to use it for bad reason.Good luck with the sale of your tank and the picture I saw think it was a nice tank.People who are looking to upgrade maybe interested when income tax returns start coming in.So dont lose hope.

Just STOP ANSWERING his messages. Don't even read them, it doesn't matter what he says or thinks, not in the least.

He is getting off on pushing your buttons. You are not obligated to respond to every crazy on this earth.

The best way to respond to that kind of person is no response at all. His insults are only to get you to respond, he has a problem. Don't make it your problem.

If he ever shows up call the police the moment you know who it is and tell them the whole story. If you think he may show up, print out the messages and have them ready to hand to the police. You have no idea just how crazy this person is or what they have been involved in.

Nip in in the bud, now.

It reminds me of this lady that came up to me at a gas station and said that her Dad is in Fayetteville and is in Hospice care and was going to pass away soon. She needed me to buy her some gas to get up there and be with him. Of course, I bought her some gas. Then, as I was walking to my car, some guy comes up and says "Did she ask for gas money? Did she mention her dying father in Fayetteville?" The lady apparently hit each gas station in Decatur a couple of times a week doing this scam.

I go to this gas station a couple of times a week. If I see her again, I'm going to ask her how her Dad is doing.

Post his email here and we can all fill his inbox with a whole bunch of "you're crazy" emails! Lol jk

After looking on craigslist he is posting that he buys saltwater equipment to resell .he says to help others who cant sell their stuff..I told him to stop emailing me but he just keeps on with the insults..The last straw was the reply on my ad saying he was going to keep reposting this . Never had to deal with crazy one like this....thanks just needed some feedback appreciate it.

You should get his phone number and call him every 5 minutes. See how he like to be bothered and just pound his phone with calls and text messages. Heck, give me his phone number and I will call him too.
