Hi Guys- I know you will be able to answer this quickly. Is this cyano bacteria?
This is a brand new tank started on Feb 15th, so coming up on its 8th week.
Fluval Evo 13.5 gal - Intank in chamber 1 running filter floss, purigen & phosguard.
Nothing in chamber 2 except heater, sicce return pump and a Jabo wavemaker.

The growth really accelerated when I went from the stock fluval lighting to a AI Prime HD 16

Fish: Two clown fish and a Gobya;
Inverts: few snails and 10 Blue legged crabs.

Salinity: 1.025
Temp: 79.9
pH: 8.0
Ca: No measure yet- just got a kit
Alk: 6-7
Mg: not measured yet - just got a kit
NO2: 0 ppm
NO3: 0 ppm
Ammonia: 0 ppm
Phosphates: 0.02

I was told by my LFS to get my alk up to 9-11. That is what I will focus on first. I get a lot of evaporation so I top off with fresh 2x / day so I need to dose KH more heavily and pH drops too.

Hope the truncated text answers your question :p
could be cyno, looks more dyno tho...hard to tell ...but seriously tho, 8 weeks old...don't know if I'd get all that deep into analysis at this stage...g

Thanks!!! I know, i just wanted to ask to try and stop it....probably a normal tank progression. The red is everywhere, on the glass, really coating the filter floss now on top of the intank media basket :) I'll continue to clean it.

yeaqh, I mean for now I'd just go with mechanical or biological approaches over chemical...get a powerhead, blow that stuff off, change socks, change a lil water, maybe try some "beneficials" from Dr.Tim, Brightwell or whomever....

I have lots of flow, a powerhead is in there plus a good pump... pulsing xenia getting all blown around. I started vibrant 1mL / week last week ... you suggest I stop that? My tank is super small, 13 gal so i have to be careful of concentrations of stuff..... Is cyno all stringy? I need to look up what it looks like to compare to mine. Photos do not seem to capture it correctly.

Need a better picture. The organism in question is in the shadows, yes?
