I need some help figuring out how to deal the final blow to these nitrates. I am still relatively new to the hobby, my tank is going on 2 years established. I have never really had a lot of nitrates, but as I said, I am new to this and probably (likely) overfed considerably - I fed much more than I do now lets put it that way. So I have some (10 according to salifert low range) and I've been working on dealing the final blow to these things. I am running a SRO2000INT, GFO, 75g sump w/ 40g low flow fuge for pods and chaeto. I don't really have any algae problems at all. I do have a 3" sandbed and a single sand sifting goby. I do 10% weekly water changes.
Outside of dosing vodka, what more can I do to lower nitrates? Feed less?
I currently keep:
1 hog of a mandarin, tail spot blenny, diamond goby, paired clowns, Kauderns cardinal, 2 juvenile Bartlett's Anthias, terminal lineatus wrasse
2 Fire shrimp, 2 cleaner shrimp
I feed 2 squares of pe mysis daily, am I overfeeding? Do I need a more powerful skimmer? Other ideas?
Other misc info:
Temp 78-78.5
Flow 3-5x turnover w/ 55x total volume in flow -- randomized with apex
0 phos accord to Hannah, ~10 nitrates salifert low range, 1360 mag, 8.3 alk, 450 calcium, 1.025-6 salinity
