Need some help.

I got a longnose hawk in 2 weeks ago and everything has been fine. Just noticed his bottom jaw seems to be swollen. Any idea from the pictures what it could be?

Looks like an injury turned bacterial infection.

I would recommend moving the fish to QT and treating with Kanaplex and Furan-2, or NFG. 10-14 days.

Yes it's a great combination and covers a wide range of both gram negative and gram positive infections.

i dont have a QT tank for this purpose. I do have a 29 gallon biocube i set up and it just finished cycling. It has nothing but LS and LR in it. Could I move the fish to this tank and treat him in it without messing anything up in the biocube?

I would only recommend using antibiotics in a barebottom tank. No LR. No way to know if the meds are being absorbed by the rock.

........Is he eating? If you’re not going to QT in a bare bottom tank then try mixing it in his food with Focus.

the fish is trying to eat but is struggling a little. I'm gonna go buy a tank today and set up a QT tank. hope he can hang in there until the meds get here on sunday. How big of a QT tank do I need to buy?

At least 10 gallon but 20 is better to avoid
spikes in parameters
