I have and empty 5 gallon tank that I had as a pico reef at one point but got bored with the size and limitations on what I could do so I upgraded all the livestock to a bigger better home. But now I have an empty 5 gallon tank that I’m itching to do something with but can’t figure out what to do with it. So I’m in search of help from this awesome reef community! P.S it doesn’t have to be saltwater, if you have a cool idea throw it at me! Thank you!

Welcome:)

So what type lighting?
Do you have a vision of the corals you would like to keep.

I’m not sure yet I had it as a pico reef already and took it down because of the limitations on space. I don’t really know what I’m going for yet. That’s why I came here for ideas

I’ve also considered a terrarium! I don’t know what a fire belly toad is. I’ll have to do some research on them!
I kept a pair for years in a 10 gallon tank. The worst part was having to keep live crickets in the house to feed them but the toads were cool. You could also do a freshwater planted tank with some tetras or those little aquatic frogs.

I have a 29 gallon planted tank with a school of red eye tetras. Or else I would’ve already jumped on that idea! Lol. I would do the toads but I don’t think my girlfriend would approve of them in our house lol.

I went to a swap one time and one of the vendors had a small 4 gallon cube on their table. It was simple but quite beautiful to watch. All they had in the tank was some coral rubble and a big pink and green tube anemone. Or you could do a tank with a few maxi minis

Could you explain more? I was thinking having something exotic in there but don’t really know what!
Majanos, aiptasia, Eunice worms. Maybe a pest tank. Or I've thought about keeping harlequin shrimp in a small tank and feeding them asterinas from a main tank.

I set up recently a critter tank for the kids, as they much preferred to watch the shrimps and crabs etc rather than the fish or corals, its just a simple set up with lots of varying shrimp, crabs, urchins, snails, starfish, the kids love it.
Or how about a Mantis Shrimp tank, wonderful creatures.
