Im looking a 3rd and maybe a 4th fish to put in my 40 breeder along with 2 clownfish. Fish im interested in are the midas blenny, starry blenny, melanarus wrasse, yellow coris. Im not really into any flasher wrasse. Id love a melanarus but i have a bad vibe about them in a small tank. Any options and input would be appreciated.

Im going to go the other direction. . . .
NO. . . Clowns. purple pseudochromis. royal gramma and strawberry basslet KEEPING YOUR TANK PEACEFUL
Caution: 6 lined wrasse, damsels and certain gobies.

Melanarus in a 40? Someone talk me into it or out of it. Bump

Temperament of melanurus is hit/miss, and there's no way to know what you'll get. If it's on the aggressive end of the spectrum, you are in for a bad time in a 40. Regardless, the small space will certainly make it's feeding more aggressive, and you'll have a hard time keep a motile invert population for any length of time.

I would go with the Jawfish instead of the Melanarus because of swimming space. It's to bad you don't want a Flasher their small enough & swim around the tank if your looking for motion.
Yeah ive kinda given up on the melanarus. Dont have a a good vibe about them
