Hey all,

I am planning on running a CW scrubber and a UV light off of the same pump. What I am wondering is, is there some kind of barb that will attach to the pump base that is a T so I can run lines directly or do I need to plumb a bit of line off the pump barb, then add a T? Or, being a complete idiot with this, is there some better way lol?

Thanks

The turf scrubber can be setup to flow the from the drain, you could set it up with a small pump if you wanted. The most common way to setup a sterilizer is using the return pump like so:

Any reason you don’t want to run them online with each other with a by-pass between them?
Any chance you have a diagram of this? I am not great describing this side of things lol.

I just wanted to run them off a seperate pump, I don't want things plumbed into my main pump on this setup (red sea 350). Any tips are greatly appreciated!

Thank you very much for this! I am not wanting to connect other devices to my return pump so I am using an ancillery pump for the CW scrubber and UV light. I suppose I can still apply this to my install, but I am trying to understand how to split the two devices off of one line, I planned on installing a flow valve on each device line as well.

Just get a T fitting that fits your pump and run hoses from the T to each piece of equipment.

Examples (make sure you get the right sizes/dimensions)

Sorry I know this is likely a painful question lol, but all I can find is a PVC barb like this (https://www.homedepot.ca/product/si...-inch-x-5-8-inch-barb-plastic-1-bg/1001002113) - Which it can work, I was looking for something to attach to the base of the pump, not inline, does that make sense?
Yeah, you just need a hose fitting for your pump, you put a piece of hose between the pump fitting and the T.

You may need something like this for your pump if it doesn’t have a hose fitting

If you can find the right size for your pump, a fitting like this eliminates the need for a separate Y fitting

YES! I try to minimize waste where possible, this hobby is full of waste, and I just thought to myself - I don't want to use plastic tube from the barb on the pump, to a T, seems like a waste. So now I just need to find an appropriate 5/8" piece lol

LOL, sorry, new around here (shame face), thank you again.

Okay, so next likely silly question LOL.

How do I know how much flow is going to each device? For instance for the CW100 and 15 UV sterilizer I was going to use (https://www.reefsupplies.ca/product...-nano-water-pump-w-level-float-235-to-525-gph).
You can put a ball valve before each piece of equipment to increase/decrease the flow as needed. If you want to know the actual rate of flow, you’ll have to measure how long it takes to fill a certain volume and divide the gallons by the time unit to get gallons per time unit (min, hr, etc.).
