Hi everyone! We recently purchased the pro star 150 to upgrade our currently pro star 60 but I’m unsure of a return pump. Our 60 has a Sicce and it’s okay, hoping for something quieter, if possible. Any recommendations would be super helpful!

Any dc pump will be very quiet.
If you're on a budget then jebao dcp or newer work really well, otherwise varios/vectra/red dragon are great quality (these are all ones I used first hand and continue to use).
Would recommend skipping neptune cor pumps though if that was in consideration.

Sweet! Thank you for the recommendations :)

I have two VarioS 8 running on my tank and I love them. Dead quiet, easy to control- and Apex-ready!

The VarioS skimmer pumps have the same great qualities as well!

Surprised about the Sicce noise complaint. It's touted frequently as the quietest AC return pump on the market.

Do you want AC or DC ?
Looking for a DC :)

Maybe it’s the way ours was setup? Not sure but I think we’re definitely looking to try other brands.

Ooooh! Someone else had recommended the Varios 6 I believe as well. Definitely looking to automate this time around :)

They won't let you down! :) While not being exactly cheap, they are still priced very reasonably so you can justify running two for redundancy as I do.

I was planning on buying just one Red Dragon but due to delivery time to the UK I ended up with the VarioS ones in the end. Not disappointed at all.

I have the VarioS 4 skimmer pump as well on my protein skimmer.

Nice!! We’re thinking about getting the skimmer, too. We currently have a Coralvue IceCap and kinda hate it. The thumb screws are awkward to work with and it seems to have issues every so often. We’re looking forward to the new setup and getting some nicer upgrades. :)

I've been pretty happy with most of the Vectras I've used.
Currently have a 5 year old M2 on my one of my tanks.
Had a VarioS-6 on a temp tank. Seemed fairly quiet.
My skimmer on my 240 has been running a VarioS skimmer pump for 6-7 years.
I also run a pair of Red Dragon pumps on my 240 as a return pump and a closed loop pump
Most dc pumps will be quiet.

I've had good luck with these.. I have one in my main display and a couple in the basement in my mixing room. I wish they had an external interface to the Apex but that's my only real gripe with them.
