@Rakie, he needs to see the scape pics you sent me. Those were great ideas for SPS scape.
Sure!
- So here's what I think: Tonga Branch is the most efficient rockwork for SPS.
- So here's why I think that: Flow is awesome. Each tip of branch can be a perch for individual corals. More room in a more compact area for more corals. Corals have to work much harder to encrust on one another, due to the round nature of tonga, or possible vertical 'pedestals' for the corals. And flow is awesome.
- Cons: Must be creative. Must buy Marco rock cement, and lots of zipties.
Imagine each tip of the rockwork here housing a coral. Each coral given a good amount of space to thrive, encrusting wars will be years down the line with a scape like this.
This is a floating scape, there's a picture of this tank grown out somewhere, it's pretty great.
These two pics are the same tank
There are some other great Tonga scapes out there, but most of them don't take advantage of the perk tonga gives -- Most people end up creating what looks like a raft of tonga pieces ziptied together, rather than using the natural shape of tonga to allow corals to each have their own spot, away from one another, free to grow and encrust to their heart's content.
The first example is the best example, and you can quite easily use the last example as well (note all the little Perches he made for the corals).
Basically -- Tonga is the cheat mode to packing SPS together, without most of the "SPS packed together" problems (Encrusting wars, inability of flow to penetrate corals, etc etc)
I found quite a few examples that I believe didn't utilize the benefits of Tonga -- But since most of those were tagged at R2R, I left them out.
