I'm looking for a simple controller that monitors the tank temperature and will turn on an outlet that has a fan connected when the temperature goes out of range. Anyone have suggestions for a simple controller that can do this that's not extremely expensive? I don't care about it really controlling much else

I would search for a used neptune apex or digital aquatics controller.

Reef Keeper lite....$100 and you get 4 controllable outlets, you can put fan on one, heater on a 2nd and lights on the other 2

I used a Ranco dual stage controller for years to control the heater and fans but today you can get a Reefkeeper Lite for about the same price and have much more capabilities for monitoring, controlling and alarming too. I sold the Ranco, outlet strips, pH controller, and more and replaced it with a RKL and never looked back. I made more on the stuff I sold than I paid for the RKL too!
