I have high level shut off sensor mounted about 6" above the control sensor. This allows me to hit feed mode on return pump and not trigger high level alarm from drainback to sump. My problem is when the filter pads next to return chamber start slowing down water the least bit, the Tunze kicks on the ato pump and keeps adding more water. Came home from work this morning, and it had used the whole 5gal bucket. I normally only use 1/2 gallon per day. Filter floss was only two days old.

I use a course filter pad in the baffle between my fuge and the return section. It doesn't do much for mechanical filtration except to keep snails and macro algae out of the return. I depend on my socks, skimmer and fuge for that. Seems to me that floss in that baffle will start to clog and impede flow from day one and just get worse as time goes on. The only solution that I can think of is to change the floss religiously and often, or go with a courser material.

By the way, I have my Tunze ATO set up the same way.

Yelp, if you want to keep your setup as is I think that this would be the only option.

That makes a lot of sense. I just really need a more porous block of foam, throw the floss away. I'm really glad i only had 5 gallon bucket for ato reservoir. I'm waiting on a 15gallon one from MD. That could have been a real disaster. Good lesson learned. Thanks so much!

Thanks , I'll be changing that put today. I had just wanted to keep the cleanest water possible, and had no idea that would happen like that, and the floss wasn't even hardly dirty, as it seemed anyway . Thanks for the reply.
