My tank iappears cloudy. The cause like its because of a light dusting of green algae on the glass.
Now i checked the parameters and my nitrate (from Red sea is 0.25) and phospate is between 0 and 0.25. So im not quite sure why my tank looks like this (the rocks too are of concern cause they seem loaded with grime rather than coralline)... Any help would be appreciated...

the sytem itself is only 3 mths old ( I had a leak on my old tank) but the rocks and life stock are over 2yrs old...

If its cycled, than how can i get rid of the cloudiness and also not sure where the algae is coming from..... and how can clean up that sand???

Thanks again for any advice?

Sounds like a algae bloom possibly. What are you using for a water source? Type of filtration? Age of lighting and type?

The tank is 120 gallons...
i use ro di water (test shows TDS of 0)..... I use a sump w\ an XS 200 skimmer, live rock and chato (the sump is crystal clear.... lol).... The lights are brand new... 6 bulb ATIs (Tek 5) and a 4bulb (Solar xtreme) that may need replacing but I only use the 2 actinics for added juice ....

but an algae bloom w\ no phospates or nitrates?

Tanks go threw several small "cycles" furring the first year. Including multiple algae stages. What do you have for fish? Also with amount of algae it could be consuming the phosphate fast enough won't see it on a test. What kind of food are you feeding??

You have both nitrates and phosphates. You have everything needed for an algae bloom. It doesn't look like a huge bloom at this point but still there none the less. To me this looks like a good candidate to try peroxide dosing on. Quite possibly a diatom bloom. Just keep skimming and filtering etc.

If you want to try peroxide dosing there is plenty of info here on the site about it. Basically add one m/l of peroxide per ever 10 gallons of tank volume.

Here is a great thread on it and plenty of success stories vs diatoms:

hope this helps.
