Feather dusters and other ornamental worms might not tolerate prazi.

I decided to go with @jsvand5 's suggestion about Prazipro. I'm hoping my feather dusters don't die. I have one that I'm especially fond of. What I don't like about this whole thing, is that I quarantined all my fish. But I'm thinking something come through on one of my coral purchases. I must have missed the sticky thread about quarantining corals. I thought if I dipped it would be fine. I can count this up to a learning experience. I really don't think it is ich or velvet, but it is something. Thank you everyone who has helped out with suggestions. This is why I love this forum. We will find out soon enough.

My coral beauty died while I was at work today. My husband pulled and flushed him. I really wish he didn't do that because I wanted go give him a full inspection. (But my guy was just trying to be helpful.) I'm going to continue to treat with Prazipro since nobody else in the tank seems to be sick right now. Geez, I hope it isn't anything worse.

I'm sorry you lost him. If you do have flukes in your tank then the other fish would probably have them too. Can you catch any of the fish and do a freshwater dip to confirm? There are flukes out there that can't be killed by prazi, I'm dealing with them now. If you have flukes that aren't prazi resistant they would be eliminated by two doses 5 to 7 days apart.

My plan was to do a water change then dose again with prazi. I hate the not knowing. I do quarantine -- but as said earlier, not so much with corals. I feel somewhat helpless. I'm newish to all of this. I know just enough to be dangerous. Maybe I should take your advice and grab another fish to try a fw dip.

I would do that if I were you. How exactly have you used the prazi thus far?

I dosed it according to the directions on the bottle -- one tsp per 20 gallons.

Have you only done one dose? If you do have flukes then all the adults and juveniles would be killed by the prazi unless they are resistant to it and the second dose after 5 to 7 days would kill the new flukes that hatched after the first treatment

The first thing out of the ordinary was the tang visiting the cleaner goby constantly when I introduced velvet into the DT.

Appears to be velvet and I also see signs of lateral line disease starting. Vitamins, and vitamins in food will help along the way to boost immune system and restore lateral line.

You have far more experience than I have. I'm not seeing the lateral line disease. Can you explain why you think so and why? I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Right below upper dorsal fin, you can see the line in your pic. Generally it is invisible. Vitamin deficiency is the usual reason. It is not a killer but a health indicator

While the emergency happened a month ago, I have a question and really don't feel that it needs its own thread. Last month while dealing with this situation, I treated with Prazipro -- did everything according to instructions. Today, I noticed that the corals looked odd and one of my fish is hiding in the corner. I only do an ammonia check about once a month. Today it was super high 1.ppm. I treated with Prime, am going to wait about an hour, and then do a water change. My question is this...Does Prazipro kill off beneficial bacteria?

Should have no impact especially in an established tank. Ive used prazi several times with no impact on system or inhabitants

Hmmmm. That's not good. I treated with Prime and did about 1/4 water change. Let's see what happens. I need to find out the problem. It looks like I'll be spending tomorrow afternoon researching this stuff. Thanks, everyone!
