Ok folks...need some more advice please. I have a 14g at my office and will need to bring it home because I won’t be going in for an unknown amount of time. Current livestock: 2 black clowns, 1 yellow watchman goby, 1 pistol shrimp, 1 tuxedo urchin, 1 brittle star (he never leaves the rock work), and a variety of snails. I also have a small variety of softies and LPS. I’m clear that I’ll need to remove the rock and a lot of water for transport. Is it possible to leave some water so I don’t have to dig for the pistol/goby? Any recommendations or tips?

I just went through this last weekend with a 60 gallon. Yours will be easier. Id get 4 5 gallon buckets from HD with lids. Drain water in them and place the rocks in 1-2 buckets, the coral in another and fish in the last. As for the sand as I learned once drained and from movement you risk releasing a lot of nasty stuff thats in the sand. Id get a small bag of live sand for the tank when you move or clean the current sand. Of course youll want to make sure everything is out of it.
