Need to qt inverts from divers den?

Just to clarify, crustaceans with an exoskeleton would also pose a risk. Only starfish/urchins may be safe from encystment (see below).

That is quite useful. Wondering again if my stars are better off direct in the DT. Argh! :D
 
Well my invert qt was a disaster. A clam bit the dust, I didn't remove it quick enough... Then I did 100% water change because I lost all three clams, then I lost I believe all of the starfish and flame scallops which fogged the water in 24 hours. Working late is not working well. I grossly underestimated how quickly a dead clam/scallops can foul the water..

@4FordFamily Oh man, so sorry to hear this. :( Why were the clams doing so poorly in QT? Do you think it was a lighting issue?

No I think one came in bad shape and I didn't remove it soon enough and it started destroying the water, it's only 30 gallons which is easy to foul. Lighting is sufficient, I have had clams under it in the past.

Lesson learned.
