Need to replace my stock red sea 350 sump

I have a red sea 350 tank and the sump that came with it has a small leak. I want to upgrade to a better sump that has room for a refugium and would hook up to my tanks plumbing. I know I would have to redo the plumbing some. Anyone have any suggestions? Jim

Replacing the stock sump is a blessing in some ways. Much better sumps available.

Red Sea part 42221 is my favorite way to convert plumbing. You can screw it on to each of the bulkheads then covert the 32mm piping to 1” with an adapter if you’re using standard pipe. Route the pipes as you wish and add your own gate valve while you’re at it

So if I buy three of the ted sea part 42221 they will fit all three bulkheads on bottom of my tank then I could plumb 1 inch pipe to a new sump? Thanks for your help. Jim

You need 3x 42221 and 3x 32mm to 1” adapters to convert over. The 42221 comes with a nipple fitting you remove and then glue the adapter to the remaining part.

Unfortunately, it ends up costing about $100 but is the cleanest and most versatile way of doing it IMO.

Alternately, you can cut the 32mm pipe and adapt from there but you’re stuck with the general routing of the stock plumbing if you go that route.

Sure would, first time seeing it. Glad to finally see a one piece option is out there. Just connect up with a make threaded pipe piece.

Id probably still go the other route for slip connections personally, but it’s definitely an easily option.

The other one they have has a barb connector is it for 1 inch flex hose?

I'm sure if you went to a plumbers merchants and told them the Size and type of fitting you needed they would gladly help you and would pay something like £2.99-£ 4.99 for that fitting each or couple pounds each for 2 fittings to make what you need as 3/ 4 price your paying for that red sea fitting is because sold for use on aquariums but literally couple of £'s fitting at best lol

The other one they have has a barb connector is it for 1 inch flex hose?

I’m honestly not sure, I remember it being narrower so I would imagine 3/4”.

If you’re replumbing I’d definitely switch to hard plumbing at 1” diameter just to open things up.

I just switched my 750s sump out for a Trigger systems and am happy with it overall. I needed it quickly and it was immediate shipping.

That said, Bash Sea, Advanced Arcylics and GeoReef all have great sumps. If you want to go custom Luna Reef makes great sumps as well
