So I purchased an RODI unit and some other supplies with a total cost of over $200 from BRS as a gift for my aunt in NY who is setting up her tank. BRS emailed me sayin there is an issue with my order and I need to call them. I did so only to be told that they are going to cancel my purchase and refund me my money because I'm located outside of the US.
I then asked if its because I'm not living there that I cant buy something for someone as a gift to which the reply was no because I'm an international customer and warranties are not valid on items if they are shipped internationally (which by the way it wasn't), so I was like what about the other stuff: additives, etc? guess what nope, not allowed either.....
This is rubbish!!!
The person was quite courteous btw, not getting anyone in trouble here but why not state that international purchases are not allowed somewhere on the site?? The only thing stated is that ALL MAJOR CREDIT CARDS ARE ACCEPTED!!! I combed the entire site before making my purchase just in case that this was going to be an issue.... guess what it is!! Now I have to wait on a refund before purchasing these items somewhere else....

so I cant even log into my account anymore, it was de-activated without any sort of heads up. I cant even check the status of my order/refund.
Sad to say but that is in very poor taste for such a large well known organization, could have at least let the transactions complete or say something like " I'm sorry but we will have to de activate your account to prevent further occurrences of this mishap" or something of the sort not just lock me out and say nothing.
