Need your experience, Is flameback angel fish safe for corals.

I saw in videos flame back angel in their reef aquarium but people say it is not safe. What is your experience?

Think of it like schrodinger’s angelfish where it is and it isn’t and you have to open the box to find out

Yes, sometimes. No, sometimes. Depends a lot on the fish and luck. Some are perfects angels (lol) and never touch a single polyp. Some much like there's no tomorrow. Some are perfect for ages until that one piece catches their eyes, and then they feast.

It's like playing Russian roulette.

I will say: flamebacks are one of the safer angels, and they're much less likely to go after coral if well fed. But ultimately, it's a risk. I choose not to take it because there are multiple fish that are just as pretty and wouldn't dream of touching my coral.

Depends on the fishs personality.. each one is diff.. i have a flame angel, rusty angel and a potters angel and none if thrm bother my corals

they are classified as reef safe caution. While one may bother nothing, the next one will go after polyps. Mainly, this fish may nip at SPS and various polyp corals in the reef tank.
The diet of the Flameback Angelfish should include :
Spirulina brine shrimp
Formula 2 flake and frozen
Marine algae such as nori
Angelfish formula by Hakari
mysis shrimp
LRS fish frenzy

Ah ok. There are flame angels and flame back angels. They are different. Live aquaria ranks flame, Wantanabei, and Lamarck as the safest dwarf angels with coral. It is rare to find a flame angel that eats coral.

I’ve had mine for more than a year and he has never touched any corals, same with my multicolor angel

Just feed them 2-3 times a day

I don’t think lamarcks or the watanabei is a dwarf angel.

My bad they are not in the true dwarf angel genus, but wantanebei's stay small (6 inches) and lamarck's don't get overly big. (9 inches max). They are also typically safe with coral so they are far more like many of the dwarfs than large angelfish.

Yes, I think I like the female bellus colors and I’ve been looking for one but no luck.

Wantanabei and Lamarck’s angelfish need minimum of 125 gallon, and I’m more wondering what the “flameback angelfish”, they look similar to the Pygmy (cherub) angelfish and I’m wondering if those will bother any LPS or clams. I attached a photo of the angelfish I’m referring and questioning. I have a shop that has three of them at the moment so depending on the replies, i may get one today or this week.
(also i just joined this forum but started reefing December of 2022)

had one and didnt bother any corals. they nip at the rocks but they are so small and can barely do any damage imo
