Need your help!! Making my 29g sump. Ideas or suggestions.

I'm about to start making my sump on a 29g (30x12x18) but is hard to find the right baffles measurements for that tank. I Google for pictures of those who already makes one and this is the most complete I can find. Let me know your suggestions. DT will be a 40g breeder. Thanks

As long as your preferred skimmer will fit, I personally don't see anything wrong with the design. Looks like you'll have room for about 5 gallons of backflow when the pump goes off, so plan accordingly.

I would look at putting the 3 wall before the return as well and maybe something to keep macros from getting into the return pump. Keeping things out of the pump is my only issue.

Here are the dimensions of my 29g sump.

14" water level. 3 chambers, 12" 9" and 6".

It works fine, plenty to handle the overflow from my 29g display. I'll post a photo of the actual thing later.

This was my first sump build so take it for what it's with but it's working great!

Thanks. I will probably get after cycling a Aquamaxx WS-1 skimmer. The foot print will fit the space looks like is good and affordable.

I though about that too. Probably will be better the bubble trap before the return line.

I have the same design on 29 gallon sump and I haven’t had any issues yet. Just make sure you measure twice and cut once. Also double check that your skimmer and return pump will fit. I wanted more water volume in my system so I made my baffles about 6 inches higher then I needed - but then my skimmer was sitting too low so I had to make a skimmer stand. Cheap and easy to do with some pvc and eggcrate. I like the 29 gallon size for a sump.. it leaves lots of extra room in case your pump fails and the water drains in your sump

Exactly, that’s what I like on the 29g. It has more water volume and will fit perfect on the stand I’m building , 40” height. Thanks
