fortunately, I haven’t had to store mine long, and I haven’t noticed anything like that!@sneekapeek Any updates on your testing? I went with Fritz RPM from TMP and I have noticed that I can't store the Fritz mixed salt water as long without precipitation (garage storage in the summer is ~ 80 degrees), but otherwise seems fine.
Meanwhile I’ve been redoing my setup a bit adding a frag tank new sump and plumbing my tanks together, so I haven’t had the opportunity to store for a long time. Just been making new saltwater by hand until I plumb my tanks back in. I did however store live aquaria salt for about 2 weeks before using the last of it up and didn’t get any precipitation.
I finally just plumbed the mixing tank into my new sump and there was slight residual from the tiny bit of saltwater that wasn’t high enough to exit bulkhead. I’m talking a solid month of evaporation and saturation residual. I mixed with pure RO water and sent it to new sump to test water leaks and was worried I’d spread the gunk. It ended up emulsifying and everything is clear and clean!
I would look into your process of mixing and storage to try to counteract this problem your having. Or go with a salt that you know works for you in your situation. I wish things were perfect, but sometimes you gotta fork out the big bucks to get what you want!
