Ok I need some help I need some one who is computer / network savy and can troubleshot a apex .. I have a guy that has set several of these up and works on them all the time but he lives 2+hrs away and he was nice enough to come down on a limited time frame to help me but wasn't able to get it in the time he had. He had several problems that needed to be worked out and said it might not can even be done with out sending it to neptune ...
So if anyone has some free time that thinks they can help let me know before I ship it off..

I had a problem that was really simple but took me all day to figure out. It was ip related. Justin will be able to help you out.

And Justin, I'm still not able to access my apex from outside my home network. I have an att uverse router. All of the Ethernet cables were used, so I pulled out an old di-524 router (think that's the name) and had to use it so I could get more connections.

My problem was the IP addresses differ. U verse router is 192.168.1 and the d link is 192.168.0. It could be the other way around though.

I tried the port forwarding and still didn't work. Any ideas man?

I had that same controller on my old tank and loved it but this tank came with a apex which I've yet to get working.. I'm manually turning the lights on and off.. Lol

I've got uverse also and the easiest thing to do is just pay an extra $15 a month if you can and get a static ip. Don't have to worry about all the port forwarding stuff. Way ore reliable that way. Just a thought.

I need I do that, or clear up a slot on the uverse router so I can do away with the d link because that's the problem I think.

Do they make a 2 way splitter for an Ethernet cable? That way I can split my computer and apex to go into one slot on the router

Sorry guys, been out and and about all day today. BHAM, I'll give you a call tomorrow evening.

Green, it's that extra router. You need a switch instead. Subtle difference but its the problem.

Mark, static IP definitely makes it easier, I didn't realize AT&T had them that cheap! The other option are dyndns services. Easy and free if your router supports them. Tedious otherwise!

So a router switch. Then I'll be able to use the computer and router simultaneously?

I'll have to worry about that later though. In Montgomery now for the bar exam. I'll get with you and make sure I do it right. I'll also need to get the dyn service or whatever that's called

Not sure. My router has like 4 ports on the back side. Static ip is a blessing. Makes it simple and can check on my system from anywhere with a cell signal. I hope Justin can get Paul up and running.

cool cool I am sticking with mostly aquacultured things that I am growing from frags in my tank, but may have to come check those out. BTW my wife and I put in an offer on a house yesterday so it may be very soon when we get to start getting corals again. I just dont want to have to move more than necessary and risk losses. BTW I have a frag of a nice acro that that I will have to bring you on the 17th. Its a color combo I have never seen before and was one of the few acros to survive the kalkwasser overdose. It may look bland to most people but it sure does look nice to me so I am wondering what you will think of it.
