I have just been given a ton of corals and fish, A friend who's tank gave out on her quit working and she gave up so gave away everything she owned.
I stocked my tank ofc and I've never owned corals but could not see these corals die.
they look great and did well with the transition. My question is What in the world do i have and do they need to be fed? plz be kind as im doing all the research possible.

For my lps corals I feed reef frenzy pellets I also feed my fish rods food. My corals seem to really like it. If you feed coral frenzy just be careful if you over feed it you'll get cyano bacteria bloom well that's what happen to me

I wouldn't be overly concerned about actually feeding the corals.....they are enjoying the fish poop. I'd be more concerned about proper lighting, proper flow and maintaining proper alkalinity, calcium and magnesium. If you don't have these test kits, I'd suggest the Red Sea Pro kit that contains all three kits.

If you have good flow and light your new corals should be fine without having to feed them. But I also feed my LPS and I think it keeps them healthy; I use Coral Frenzy.

thanks for the info yes I have been using test strips but want something better. Lighting i have something good enough for the moment and have ordered better just waiting on it.

Well the corals look pretty healthy and I don't see much nuisance algae in the photos. So that's a good thing. I would suggest familiarizing yourself with water testing. It would be helpful to keep notes on the results, especially when problems arise. How are your new acquisitions doing?
