Needing to Add Calcium with Calcium Reactor

I started using a calcium reactor and aim for 7.5 - 8 ppm alkalinity, but my calcium is testing very low, below 400 ppm. Would it be normal to have to dose extra calcium beyond what the calcium reactor provides?

Is your tank heavily stocked and how long has the reactor been up and running?

Yes it is heavily stocked and some recent large sps pieces. Tank is close to a year running with the calcium reactor.
