I purchased this nem as an inferno. It had bright dark orange/red tentacles with green tips and a blue, green and white base. Now everything just looks dull and washed out. What did I do? How do I get those colors back?

What lighting is it under? How different is your system from the one it came from? Also did you get to see it in person when you bought it?

I did see it in person, when I seen it I had no problem justifying the price. We both use radions with pretty similar settings, and water parameters are pretty close as well 450, 8.4 alk, 35 ppt salinity. I don't know his PH but mine runs 7.8-8.3 depending on if I leave the window open.

The current color is pink foot and the tips look almost clear but there is still a hint of green. The belly (forgive my ignorance of the actual term of this area) is blue with white marbled around the mouth and the base of the tentacles is green.

It was also nice and bubbled when I got it but for the last year it has looked like this.

The last year? I thought you just got this. I was going to say that it was stressed and bleached out from moving systems but if you've had it for a year it could be a few different things. Do you target feed it? If you want it more inflated I'd get it some food.

What temp of color? New G4 or older? Have had similar issues with muddy color.colors fit what enferno should be

I do target feed the nem silversides but it rarely eats it. Is there a food they prefer?

Now I have G4 but before it was G3pros. my settings are all blues 100 white 20 green and red are 4

Stop feeding silversides, I have lost multiple anemones and heard similar experience from others. Try mysid or krill. Some people have used pics of salmon. I often use rods food same as what you feed fish.

Mysis and krill Pacifica (the smaller type) work well for this species. I've used silversides in the past but I'm not a huge fan.

My BTA likes chopped clams but she also gets mysis, roe and she gets coral foods like marine snow, reef roids, and phytoplankton. I believe in diversity of foods. In the three months I've had her she's already split once.

I may need to cut back on her food if I don't want a tank full of BTA. :p

@ThunderGoose Nonsense! I'm glad to see more and more people feeding a variety of coral foods. People lose it when I explain the foods that go into my systems. My quadricolor anemones don't even split when I feed all the time, they just get huge. If I want more I have to divide them.

I have similar issues so I am going to start with water chemistry and work my way out. Keep as much chemistry stable, make sure trace elements are not limited , nutrient loads then work on to lighting, color, intensity, duration, quality
