It has never done this before... nothing in the tank has changed, no spikes, same lighting, and everything seems fine with the levels.

What would make it walk from it's perch where it has set since day one 4 months ago???

Could it be ****** about something?
getting ready to split?
Wants a darker section?

It moved under the cave it was sitting on into a different section of the tank within the last few hours. It was happy and all bubbly this morning at 8am, and now it is all happy and bubbly in a different location that is darker.

Apparently it wanted a darker section. It maybe getting ready to split too.

Let it do it's thing until it start showing any signs of stress or anything.

You can move it, but it will likely just move back or to a different spot.

I never move the nems unless I see they are in major danger of a powerhead or something.. I will just watch it and see what happens for a few days

I have had a bubble tip move on me in the past. He was fine for a couple months then just seemed irritated with one of my clowns, even looking a little deflated. Wanting to hang out in darker alleys, seeming like he wanted no direct light. It was an issue cause i didnt want him stinging any corals. So i would move him and he'd just pack his things and take off again. Not sure the rhyme or reason for his mood swing but i eventually gave him away. I do hope your nem finds happiness.

curious, do you feed yours?
My large one picked a spot where it retracts when it wants to and hides from the light.
It comes out daily for light and sometimes stretches really far, about 9 inches from the rock. When it does this i ASSUME its reaching to catch some food.... I will usually feed it when i see it like this, a cube of thawed squid or mysis, then it gets back to normal size of about 6-7 inches.
when i change the flow around it, sometimes it gets peeved and pulls in completely into the cave, i pay attention and change the flow back.
Not sure I am interpreting its behavior and stretching and contracting correctly but it hasn't moved its foot on me yet.

This is the first time it has walked on me, and it is interesting, because it is slowly walking back to where it was first placed and never moved from... I feed mine a 1/2 x 1/2 cube of raw shrimp ever couple of days.. it is now about 8 inches across when fully open. It has always been happy after it got used to the tank.. the first week was kind of nerve wracking with it not bing used to the T5 HO lights, but since then (3 weeks ago) I canted to LED's and it never had a care in the world with the change. I hope it is working on splitting.. This is one beautiful nem :)
