Hi Guys, I once again need your wealth of knowledge. I just got 2 Colorado Sunburst nems. They are fairly small but look health and are inflating well. They have been in my DT for about 3 weeks but I just added a huge remote sand bed and am wondering if I should switch them to my frag tank. I have very little experience with Nems

SYSTEM 1 DT: up and running about 8 months ago. It is fully cycled and has some fish but has not corals. It is around 250 gallons including sump. It is light by AI Hydra 52's. Just added a 44 gal rubbermaid to the system with 8" sand bed and 100lbs of dry rock.

SYSTEM 2 FRAG TANK: I also have a frag tank. its around 120 gallons in total and is light with t5/halide/led. It is over 1 year old and houses all of my coral. Everything is doing great in it.

My concern with putting them in the frag tank is if they start to decline they will send out stunning cells that will kill corals. However, since they are healthy at the moment maybe its best to just leave them in the DT even though I added the DSB and LR yesterday.

Thanks!

If your coral is thriving in the frag tank why do you think the nems will not in there? I would move them over just to be safe although there probably won't be an issue if left in the DT. Way to go all out on your first nem! Those sunbursts are dope! bubble tips are usually pretty hardy

I would also put them in some kind of basket or something easy to get them back out

I'd just keep a watch on them bubbles are pretty tolerant so best to watch them and move them if they don't look good but if you move them to the frag tank if they start to do bad if the water quality is good they will perk right back up real tuff nems!

The only issue about the basket option from what i understood of it is the fact that they could get up amd move out of the basket on their own which would mute the point of having them in the basket

You have to keep the basket at the water surface so they don't climb out like this.

I had one determined BTA specimen crawl over the lip of my basket twice and onto the DT wall.
Fortunately it didn't float off into a Gyre.

Must not of had it out of the water enough! Mine are about 1/2 " above water level

SO here is a caveat I forgot to mention. One of the SB looks like it has a gaping mouth... however it still inflates just fine. Not sure what to do.
