So purchased a condi Nem from Petco Dec 12, 2020.
After 8 mos it’s gone from 2-3” across to less than an inch.
I really try to follow the DONT fix it if it ain’t broke philosophy. Rest of tank and inhabitants/coral are doing great. Tank seems to be maturing nicely with stable params and coralline growth etc
Nem has been everywhere in the tank but seems to be shrinking to nothing. If it is important I’ve slowly lost 2 feather dusters as well. ( over 6 mos)
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

I’m no expert but I’m willing to bet your light isn’t powerful enough for it and that’s a pretty deep tank for that light. Think they are only rated for 100 par at 12”, 50 or so at 18”

Edit: although if lighting was the issue you would think it would climb to the top of your rocks. Hopefully an expert will comment on the thread soon.

That light isn’t strong enough for nems and do not feed a stressed nem

Yeah definitely need way better lighting for an anemone that prefers the sand bed. I almost upgraded to that light but realized it’s only really cut out for 12” deep tanks at best or fowlr.

Given all your hair algae on the rock on the right side you could probably use another wave pump on that side too. I wouldn’t put off a lighting upgrade very long, that nem doesn’t look very healthy.

Maybe a short term solution while you wait on a light is an acclimation box with sand in it to bring it closer to the light slowly. I’ve only been researching bta’s so far so no I’m no expert, maybe someone else has more advice.

par rating for your light at 3”6”12”&18” according to fluval

381 / 16 720
236 / 8910
94 / 4160
55 / 2440
