Neon Green Haddoni Questions

Hey guys,

I started my 55 gallon tank up over a month ago and it is cycled and I have 2 GSM clowns and a full cleanup crew. I've kept RBTA's in this same tank same setup before I moved and plan on moving it back since it is in my cousins tank at the moment. this being said I have had success with RBTA's and my LFS just got in 2 gorgeous neon green haddoni carpet nems. What other care elements are there for taking care of a Haddoni carpet? I have 2x54 watt T5HO a couple inches off the water. so the lights are ~24in from where nem would be on the bottom.

How deep is your sandbed?

Is this a standard 55?

Does your lights have individual reflectors? (( even if they do, not sure that would be enough light long term. While they don't require a ton of light, that is really pushing it. ))

What do you have for flow?

1 month is too soon to put in an S. haddoni, tank isn't truly finished cycling yet.

What other fish do you plan on keeping? S. haddonis are fish eaters.

Thanks Trex, My sandbed is ~2in. deep, standard 55, and yes individual reflectors, and that was my main concern is how much more lighting was required, flow is 2 koralia powerheads i think 850 and 600 that alternate. My fish List is ever changing I would adjust to accompany this nem though. t

Personally, I would increase the lights --- 4*54 with individual reflectors would work.

Case in point, for both my 65 and 75 I kept S. haddonis under 2*250 MH plus 2*96 PC (( 65 gallon )) and 4*54 T5 (( for the 75 )).

Also, the sandbed might have to be a bit deeper, but could just have it deeper where the anemone is, not the whole tank.

well heres my thinking. Im upgrading to a 135 in Aug.-Sept. where I am gonna go LED heavy and a deeper sandbed so it looks more like this isn't the right time for this nem maybe after the upgrade I'll find another sweet deal. fingers crossed. Thank you for your input always helps to hear an experienced opinion

Overall I think that is the best choice. The fact that you are making this choice is going to help you tons in this hobby --- thinking long term and what is best for the creatures.

While S. haddonis aren't super common, it seems like the green ones come in more often than a blue or red one, so will make it easier to find when your tank is ready.
