Neon Green Leather Toadstool Coral

Hello R2R,

About 3 weeks ago i purchased a toadstool coral, It opened up first day and constantly did well inside my tank, i then added a colony of candy canes that had there hard little tubes and inside there was these little snail like animals forgot the name... that produced this web looking string and that string was in contact with my leather and made it very sad and it was retracting. i then glued the top ends of the tubes and no more web ! idea curtesy of a fellow R2R member. the toad stool is not once again a week from then retracted and has non shown its polyps... I'm kinda weirded our since nothing has change in my parameters. below i will detail all.

The only change i have done was add 2Ml of Nopox yesterday morning, to bring down my nitrates from 25ppm down to 0-5ppm. could that made the leather upset?

In addition, it might not be the right channel, but my GSP is also hiding usually it has been happy and always out even when i only have 1 light on...

Any info or advise will help guys !

Chances are the vermetid worms irritated the leather. Being it's still closed, it will probably sloth off skin soon. It's what they do when they get irritated. Then it will be fine.

Now when this happened, it may have went into chemical warfare and released a protective mucus. This may have irritated other corals. Do a small water change and run some GAC to soak up the discharge from it. Give it some time and all of this should pass.

@Flippers4pups thanks ! I have a small media reactor I’ll run tomorrow. Be advise the vermatid worms issue happen about 2 weeks ago. And it did shed right after, now it’s in assolatiom by itself on the sand bed far from any other corals and it’s been unhappy for 2 days now. My GSP is also hiding and my zenias look like someone ran a comb threw them... I’ll post pics
