I've had this tank running for about 2 months now. there has been this orange bacteria growing on my rock and it's got little spots on the sides but the main spot is the top rock. is this coralline? it looks awesome and reflects in the light but the iphone can't get it without the reef glasses over them. Would love some more info on this. I accidentally had the salinity at 1.035 from a refractometer that i had wrongly used distilled water to calibrate. maybe the higher salinity caused this?

Coralline comes in every color - even black and white. That could be bleached/stressed purple, or orange... or it could be sponge. Most oranges live on the underside or rocks and out of the direct light. They used to be really common in Pacific live rock. Orange never seemed to like water parameters that strayed too much from natural seawater and was not as forgiving as purple.
