Neonitro dosing

Quick question, I just want to make sure I have the calculations correct. The bottle says water volume x desired ppm x .1261 = ?ml. So for me it’s 210 x 5 x .1261 = 132ml. That seems a lot but if the math is right then I’ll do it. Thanks!

math is correct. only seems high because you have a large tank/water volume

You can always just do half dose daily and monitor progress. I had to double dose for several weeks before I saw numbers go up.

I'm also looking at dosing this or another product. My tank has been 0/0 for a month and a half. Just today I'm finally starting to show some phosphates by Nitrate is still 0.

For those of you that dose this, how often do you dose it? daily?

It seems like you could quickly go through a lot of solution, especially with a larger tank.

I would only shoot for a 1ppm/day addition especially since you are at 0. Jumping to 5 in one dose is 500%. As opposed of going from 5ppm to 10ppm which would only be a 200% jump.

FWIW, you can buy food grade sodium nitrate from amazon. It has a purity assurance that Brightwell does not provide, and is much cheaper.

I'd typically suggest dosing 2 ppm a day for a while and see if nitrate becomes detectable 24 h later.

Would you use the same equation when figuring out the dose you need. And do you have a link to the stuff you use?

Same equation as Brightwell? No.

You make a solution however concentrated you want (up to the solubility limit) and dose it per a calculator like this one:

James' Planted Tank - Dosing Calculator

There are lots of suitable brands, such as Loudwolf.

Ive been dosing NeoNitro in both of my 200g tanks (they were at 0.00 when i started) and after about 2 weeks started to hit around 1.0 - then it dropped again? Thinking about doing a double dose for a week to see how this works out but am a little cautious due to very clear directions on not dosing too much. Anyone have some experience in double dosing and for how long?

Assuming you have confidence in the kit, there's no reason to not dose more if you are below 2 ppm nitrate and want it higher (I would).

Double dosing is a meaningless term that implies that Brightwell has special insight into reef tanks in setting doses that others do not have. Don't believe it. The warning is probably just to prevent folks from mindlessly dosing more and more because "more is always better than less" lol
